Minister Oskanian held a joint press conference with Dr. Kantathi
Suphamongkohn, Thai Trade Representative and Special Envoy of the
Prime Minister of Thailand. Dr. Suphamongkohn has led a large delegation
of Thai public officials and businessmen to Yerevan this week. The
delegation has visited Prime Minister Margarian, Agriculture Minister
Zadoyan, Education and Science Minister Mkrtchian as well as various
businesses, with an eye to expanding trade between the two countries.
The Minister welcomed the delegation and expressed his conviction
that following this large, high-level visit, economic cooperation
will indeed grow.
The two signed a Memorandum of Understanding covering cooperation
in the spheres of medicine, educational exchange, gems and jewelry,
tourism, artificial rainmaking, and other spheres. Trade between
the two countries, today, is very low. It is often also through
third countries. However, just within the spheres of agriculture
and jewelry, there is huge potential for growth, the two agreed.
