Foreign Minister Oskanian received Cuba's Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque on March 25. Minister Roque is on an official visit to Armenia. Today, the two held a joint press conference. The sides noted the high level of existing bilateral ties between the two countries and discussed ways of encouraging further deepening of these ties. The two agreed to pay special attention to enhancing economic relations, especially in the sphere of energy and transportation.

Prior to the press conference, the two signed an agreement on trade and economic cooperation . Minister Oskanian and Perez Roque also discussed cooperation in international organizations. The Nagorno-Karabagh conflict was also on the agenda. Perez Roque was briefed on the current status of negotiations. Both sides stressed that it is necessary to arrive at a peaceful resolution of the conflict, based on international norms and principles. The Cuban Minister also met with President Robert Kocharian, Prime Minister Andranik Margarian, Parliament Chairman Armen Khachatrian.
