During the meeting the two discussed the recorded irregularities in the past electoral process and the ways of its improvement.

Concerning the elections on 25 May, Lord Russel-Johnston said: “We return having been assured that our principal criticisms have been accepted by the authorities and that every effort will be made to ensure that the irregularities of the Presidential election are not repeated”.

The delegation, led by Lord Russell-Johnston, met with the President of the Republic, Mr Kocharyan; the Chairman of the Central Electoral Committee, Mr Sahradyan; the Chairman of the National Assembly, Mr Khachatryan; the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Mr Haroutunyan; and held meetings with opposition political parties, NGOs and the media.
