Minister Oskanian Receives Mr. Digvijay Singh, India's State Minister for External Affairs

Minister Oskanian received Mr. Digvijay Singh, India's State Minister for External Affairs. The Minister welcomed this high-level visit and expressed his appreciation of the very effective bilateral cooperation that exists between the two countries. The two welcomed the frequent working visits which take place between officials and expressed hope that this would serve to strengthen the already productive economic cooperation between the two countries.

In order to work toward deeper economic cooperation, they agreed to push forward the Removal of Double Taxation Treaty, and to work towards legislation to support the ever-growing educational cooperation between the two countries.

Ministers Oskanian and Singh discussed regional issues, as well -- in particular, India-Pakistan relations, India-China relations, current developments over the Kashmir issue, as well as Armenia's relations with its own neighbors, inter-relations within the Caucasus, and the Nagorno Karabakh negotiations process. They agreed to continue to cooperate in international forums on a whole range of issues.

The Armenian Minister thanked Mr. Singh for the Indian government's good relations with the ancient Armenian community of India.
