Minister Oskanian received Mr. Digvijay Singh, India's
State Minister for External Affairs. The Minister welcomed
this high-level visit and expressed his appreciation of
the very effective bilateral cooperation that exists between
the two countries. The two welcomed the frequent working
visits which take place between officials and expressed
hope that this would serve to strengthen the already productive
economic cooperation between the two countries.
In order to work toward deeper economic cooperation, they
agreed to push forward the Removal of Double Taxation Treaty,
and to work towards legislation to support the ever-growing
educational cooperation between the two countries.
Ministers Oskanian and Singh discussed regional issues,
as well -- in particular, India-Pakistan relations, India-China
relations, current developments over the Kashmir issue,
as well as Armenia's relations with its own neighbors, inter-relations
within the Caucasus, and the Nagorno Karabakh negotiations
process. They agreed to continue to cooperate in international
forums on a whole range of issues.
The Armenian Minister thanked Mr. Singh for the Indian
government's good relations with the ancient Armenian community
of India.
