Minister Oskanian left on Wednesday October 22 for an official
visit to Croatia and Slovenia. He will be the highest ranking Armenian
official to have visited the two European countries.
On Wednesday, the Minister met with Croatian Deputy Prime Minister
Goran Granich in Zagreb. They discussed a variety of economic and
political issues affecting each country, as well as regional issues.
They also shared experiences related to relations with the EU.
On the same day, the Minister met with the Deputy Speaker of the
Croatian Parliament and President of Foreign Affairs Commitee Zdravko
Tomac.
Again, issues relating to EU integration were discussed, together
with issues of importance to the Balkans and the Caucasus.
Speaker Tomac offered to organize a bilateral intergovernmental
group after the upcoming parliamentary elections in Croatia order
to deepeni cooperation between the two countries in different areas.
In Zagreb Minister Oskanian also met with his counterpart, Croatian
Minister of Foreign Affairs Tonino Picula.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral issues, and especially
those having to do with signing of legal instruments which will
contribute to and facilitate fast economic development in both countries,
as a cooperation with the EU benefitting from Croatia's experience.
Minister Oskanian described the current state of the Nagorno Karabakh
conflict and the prospects for normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations
and Minister Picula did the same for the situation in the Balkans.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Oskanian invited the
Croatian Minister to visit Armenia in the near future.
On Thursday, Minister Oskanian departed for the Republic of Slovenia.
