Minister Oskanian on Working Visit to Germany and Russia

On Wednesday, November 12, 2003, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vartan Oskanian leaves for a four-day two-country working visit.

On Wednesday and Thursday, in Berlin, Germany, the Minister meets with Joschka Fischer, Minister of foreign Affairs of Germany and with Berndt Mutzelburg, Advisor to the Chancellor on Foreign Relations.

The Minister will participate in an International Policy Dialogue, sponsored by the Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, as well as other agencies. Entitled “The Southern Caucasus – Political Challenges and Development Perspectives,” the conference attendees include the foreign ministers of all three Caucasus countries, as well as the EU Special Envoy on the South Caucasus, the Secretary General of the OSCE, Germany's Special Envoy to Russia, the Caucasus and Central Asia, representatives of the governments of Iran, Turkey and Russia, as well as academics and experts from various universities and agencies from the region.

On Thursday evening, the Minister will arrive in Moscow. On Friday, he will meet with Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov, as well as Minsk Group co-chairman Ÿuri Merzlyakov. On the same day, the Minister will speak before the student body and faculty of the Moscow Institute for International Relations. Later, he will convene a meeting of Armenia's ambassadors to CIS countries. That meeting will continue on Saturday. The Minister and his delegation will return to Yerevan on Saturday evening.
