Armenia, Timor Leste Established Diplomatic Relations

On Decemeber 23, 2003 in New York Armenia's Permanent Represnetaive to the UN, Armen Martirosian and the Permanent Representative of Timor Leste, Joze Louis Guteres, signed a Protocol establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.

After the signing ceremony the two expressed their willingness to strengthen friendly relations and cooperation between the nations of Armenia and Timor Leste.

Timor Leste is the first state in the 21-st century that gained independence and became a full-fledged member of international community according to the one of the fundamental principles of the international law ­ the right to self determination. It was recognised as an independent state in May 2002.
