Constituent Meeting of Romania – Armenia Chamber of Commerce

Constituent meeting of Romania-Armenia Chamber of Commerce (RAC) took place on 15 March 2004 in Bucharest. The meeting was opened and chaired by President of Romania’s Union of Armenians Varujan Vosganian on behalf of the Initiative Group.

Issues of strengthening trade relations with Armenia were discussed in statements delivered by the Chair of Romanian Chamber of Commerce George Kojokaru, Mayor of 3rd District of Bucharest Eugene Pleska, Vice Chair of Romanian Chamber of Commerce for Coordination of Bilateral Commerce, Chair of Romania – Israel Chamber of Commerce Jose Iakobesku, Advisor of National Bank of Romania Razvan Fayer, businessmen and members of the Initiative Group.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Romania Eghishe Sargsyan made a presentation where he introduced current democratization processes and achievements in creation of environment conducive for economic reforms in Armenia.

The presenters stressed the fact that the idea of creation of Romania – Armenia Chamber of Commerce was an outcome of recommendations for fostering bilateral trade and economic relations formulated in the framework of a business forum convened during a visit of Armenia’s President Robert Kocharian to Romania in November 2003.

Romania – Armenia Chamber of Commerce elected a Board Member of Armenian Union of Romania, a lawyer Maria Magdalena Udria, as its Chair, and lawyer Varujan Udria as Executive Secretary.
