Meeting of Deputy Foreign Minister Ruben Shugarian with Newly Appointed Slovenia’s Ambassador Jozefa Puhar

A newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia to the Republic of Armenia Jozefa Puhar (residence in Athens) handed a copy of her credentials to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ruben Shugarian on 19 March.

In a discussion that followed the protocol ceremony, Deputy Minister Shugarian emphasized the fact that in two months, Slovenia would become a full member of European Union. He further stressed the importance of European dimension of Armenia’s foreign policy and mentioned that Armenia would be interested in learning from Slovenia’s experience of European integration. Deputy Minister Shugarian introduced Armenia’s endeavors aimed at inclusion of Southern Caucasus countries in Wider Europe – New Neighborhood programme.

Ambassador Puhar mentioned that Slovenia intended to strengthen its relations with Armenia and other countries of the South Caucasus, also in view of the fact that in 2005, the country would assume OSCE chairmanship.

The meeting participants exchanged ideas about the current situation in the South Caucasus, regional developments and prospects of Nagorno Karabagh conflict regulation.
