Question & Answer
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamlet Gasparian Response to a Question by "Ayb Fe" News Agency
September 14, 2005
Q: How does the Armenian Foreign Ministry comments the inclusion of the "Situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan" to the agenda of the 60th Session of UN General Assembly?

A: According to the rules and procedures of the UN this issue together with other issues not discussed at the 59th session of the General Assembly may automatically move to the 60th General Assembly. However Azerbaijan cannot take any further steps because it will contradict prior agreements between the parties.

Armenia's approach toward this issue has not changed. In the case Azerbaijan raises any issue related to Nagorno Karabakh in the UN, Armenia will withdraw from the Nagorno Karabakh negotiations and Baku will have to continue the negotiations directly with Stepanakert.
