Question: According to the Turkish print media, a meeting has been held in Turkey between the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Arman Kirakosian, and a representative of the Foreign Ministry of Turkey. Can you comment?

Answer: It is true that on Turkey’s initiative, a meeting was held between Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister and the Secretary General of the Bilateral Relations Department of the Turkish MFA, Ambassador Reşit Uman.
During the meeting which proceeded in a positive atmosphere, the two sides discussed the positions of the two countries as well as the possibilities of future changes in Armenian Turkish relations.

It must be noted that there remain differences in approaches to the issues under discussion. Armenia’s position, which is to establish diplomatic relations with Turkey without any preconditions, remains unchanged and we hope that Turkey will take certain steps to overcome the existing differences.
