Armenia’s newly appointed ambassador to NATO Samvel Mkrtchyan handed his credentials to North Atlantic Treaty’s Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer on October 4, at NATO headquarters in Brussels.

During the meeting that followed the protocol ceremony, the parties discussed details of the forthcoming visit of NATO Secretary General to Armenia, as well as Armenia-NATO cooperation, current developments and issues of conflict resolution in the South Caucasus region.

Secretary General Scheffer assured Armenia’s ambassador that NATO will continue to focus on the South Caucasus region with an aim of helping ensure stability and cooperation.
