On 8 February, Minister Oskanian met with faculty and students
of International Relations Department of Yerevan State University,
in the framework of an established tradition of meetings with Armenia's
future diplomats. The graduates of the Department presently account
for about one third of the Ministry's staff.
In his speech, Minister Oskanian briefed the audience on the current
geopolitics and challenges and highlighted several priority issues
that would determine Armenia's development and prosperity in the
next decade and ensure that the country becomes an equal member
of the world community. He further stressed these goals required
combined efforts and mobilized capacities of all parts of Armenia's
society, including the government, the opposition, the civil society
and the nation's entire creative potential in general.
Minister Oskanian further answered the students' questions, mostly
related to international and regional developments, Nagorno Karabagh
conflict, commemoration program for the 90th anniversary of the
Genocide and Armenia - Turkey relations.
At the end of the meeting, the rector of Yerevan State University
Radik Martirossyan thanked the Minister for the visit and stressed
his personal contribution towards better cooperation between the
University and the Ministry and awarded him the University's Gold
Medal.
