News Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Vartan Oskanian, meets with the Assistant Director of the IMF, Mr. Augustin Carstens July 20, 2005 On July 20, Minister Oskanian received and met with the Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Augustin Carstens. The Deputy Managing Director explained that the purpose of his visit was to become acquainted first-hand with Armenia?s economic and political realities, and to explore ways of further deepening cooperation between the IMF and the Republic of Armenia. He said that he clearly saw the effects of economic growth, the reduction of poverty and the stabilization of the national currency. The Minister and Mr. Cartens also discussed prospects for sustaining the high rate of economic growth. The Minister presented Armenia?s political and economic relations with its neighbors , as well as the political challenges facing Armenia and their impact on Armenia?s economic development.
