On August 19, Deputy Minister Arman Kirakossian received M. Eric Garcetti,
member of the Los Angeles City Council. The purpose of Councilman
Garcetti's visit was to discuss with the Yerevan Municipality the
possibility of signing an agreement establishing Sister City relationship
between Yerevan and Los Angeles.
During the meeting, Councilman Garcetti stressed the important role of Armenians in the cultural, economic and social life of Los Angeles and expressed confidence that expanding and strengthening ties between Yerevan and Los Angeles will promote further cooperation between the two countries. In this regard, both sides highlighted the cooperation of other US and Armenian cities, such as Cambridge and Yerevan, Alexandria and Gyumri, Glendale and Kapan, as well as Kansas State and Armenia, which is evidence of friendly relations of the peoples of the two countries. The two also touched upon current issues of American-Armenian cooperation. |
