Minister Oskanian Receives Leaders of Canadian Churches

On August 29, Minister Oskanian received the leaders of the most prominent churches in Canada who had arrived in Armenia on the occasion of the 1600th Anniversary of the Creation of the Armenian Alphabet.

The delegation met with the Minister following four days during which they toured Armenia, visiting various holy sites. The Minister expressed to the delegation Armenia's appreciation for the Canadian parliament's recognition of the Armenian Genocide. They also discussed Armenian-Canadian bilateral relations, and the strong Canadian Armenian community, with its active engagement in the life of the Armenian Republic.

The delegation, comprised of Archbishop Andrew Hutchison, Primate of the Anglican National Church of Canada; Archbishop Sotirios, Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Canada; Archbishop Brendan O?Brien, President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops and Dr. Richard Schneider, President of the Canadian Council of Churches, was accompanied by Bishop Bagrat Galstanian, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Canada.
