On October 17 and 18, Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian paid an
official visit to Lithuania.
There, he held meetings with Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus
(above), Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis (below), the
Deputy Speaker of the Liithuanian Parliament, Ceslovas Jursenas,
and National Security Minister Gediminas Kirkilas.
Throughout the various meetings, discussions focused on bilateral
relations, regional developments, as well as Euro-integration processes.
In the context of bilateral relations, they explored ways in which
Lithuania may be helpful to Armenia in its Euro-integration processes.
In that context, Lithuania's initiative to organize a meeting in
Brussels in December with the foreign ministers of the three Caucasus and the three Baltic states was
considered to be a positive step.
The two foreign ministers signed a Joint Declaration on Regional
Cooperation and Assistance on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.
Foreign Minister Oskanian also addressed students and faculty of
the Institute of International Relations and Political Science.
He met with members of the Armenian community.
He also visited the Lithuanian Museum of Genocide and Resistance,
which includes a section devoted to the Armenian Genocide.
