A meeting of Armenia's ambassadors posted to all European capitals
took place in Brussels Saturday and Sunday.
Also attending the meeting were Armenia's ambassadors to Washington
and Moscow, as well as those heading all missions to multilateral
organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization for
Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Council of Europe and NATO.
Minister Vartan Oskanian who headed the meeting explained that
the agenda would focus on Armenia's foreign policy agenda for the
coming year.
Armenia's eurointegration processes were the main item on the Ambassadors'
agenda. Minister Oskanian explained that 2006 will bring both the
European Union European Neighborhood Policy Action Plan to its conclusion,
and Armenia's Individual Partnership Action Plan with NATO will
be concluded.
The discussed the implications of both those documents for Armenia's
economic and democratic development. Minister Vartan Oskanian stressed
that the European Union Neighborhood Policy enhances opportunities
for closer bilateral relations with individual European Union member
countries as well, and each ambassador would be working to identify
the areas and programs of possible bilateral cooperation within
the European Neighborhood Policy Action Plan. The Minister stressed
that in some areas, this would bring Armenia from cooperation to
integration with European structures.
