On October 29, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian received Rogelio Pfirter, Director-General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

Welcoming the guest, Minister Nalbandian positively assessed the activities of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and Mr. Pfirter’s contribution in the implementation of the goals of the organization. Minister stressed that the activity of the OPCW is in line with the efforts of international community to overcome actual challenges, particularly in the field of preventing the proliferation of chemical weapons.

The two had a detailed discussion on the issues concerning Armenia – OPCW cooperation. Rogelio Pfirter expressed satisfaction with Armenia’s support to OPCWm aimed at the comprehensive implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention.

Touching upon regional issues, the sides expressed confidence that the joining of all countries to the Convention will be an important factor for the enhancement of stability and security in the world.
